At Gel Ovations we are playing our part in spreading the important aims of International Stop Pressure Ulcers Day. This is taking place on 19th November 2020.

The Tissue Viability Society is curating important information and resources on the subject. They are being made available to help healthcare professionals plan their events to take part in the campaign.

We will be sharing this information across our communication platforms in order to help this vital work. Starting with a video on Tissue Viability News TV from the Welsh Wound Innovation Centre:

Tissue Viability News TV – Pressure Ulcers in Care Homes – A Big Risk

Mike Clark Commercial Director of the Welsh Wound Innovation Centre describes why now, more than ever, we mustn’t forget about the risk of pressure ulcers to care homes.

The video highlights the work of the WWIC surveying 27 care homes in South Wales since 2016.

Of the total of 329 residents, only 9 patients were deemed not at risk of pressure ulcers. 178 patients (54%) were at very high risk and 33 patients (10%) had pressure ulcers at the time of the survey.
